August 4, 2014 - Pilot Shade Rehab

Recently it was noticed that several of the boards on the west side of the pilot shade had rotted. It was decided to replace all of the boards on that side with fresh pressure treated lumber, to repair the damage and prevent any further rot. Marshal Stanton, Larry Geiger, Bob and Andrew Hathaway met at the field the afternoon of August 4th to make the repairs.

The old rotten boards were removed, new pressure treated 2 x 6 x 10' boards were obtained from Lowes, along with fresh nails, and screws. The new boards were trimmed as necessary and installed, the fascias were slipped back over the boards, and all the screws were replaced. A few minutes were also spent straightening the tin fascia on the picnic shelter, and reinforcing the tin storage shed. The job was finished in about 3.5 hours, and only cost the club about $70 in materials.
